Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

A parent talks to his baby while the baby lays on a blanket under a mobile, looking intently at him

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) recognizes that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. ECFE offers parents hands-on learning experiences that will nourish a lifetime of teachable moments.

All ECFE classes are taught by licensed early childhood teachers and parent educators to provide the quality education parents are looking for.

ECFE Registration

A typical ECFE class includes:

  • Parent-Child Interaction: Time for the parent and child to enjoy activities together
  • Parent Education: Adult-only class time that provides relevant, effective education and support that encourages a healthy environment for the growth and development of families.
  • Children’s Activity Time: During the parent education time, children explore, gain independence, and practice social skills under the supervision of a licensed early childhood teacher.

3 Ways to Enroll

Expecting or Parenting a New Baby?

Having a baby can be one of the most wonderful - and challenging - times in your life!  But no baby comes with an instruction manual. Our ECFE Family Support Team can connect you with the best tools and support to help your baby thrive. All services are provided free of charge.

Welcome Baby Visit

Schedule a free Welcome Baby Visit with one of our early childhood parent educators. Get answers to your questions about baby, find support, and connect with others. We provide support over the phone, through a home visit, or in a virtual visit. Email ecfe@isd199.org for more information.

Baby Classes

We offer free baby classes that give you time to play with your baby and learn about development. Parents also have the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents who are nurturing a newborn. All classes are facilitated by a licensed parent educator. Email ecfe@isd199.org or call 651-306-7503 for more information.
